Stages
Entry Requirements
We are looking for:
- Students and graduate students
- Young journalists and content creators
- Political scientists and activists
- Anyone who can (or is learning to) tell stories – through videos, texts, photos, or podcasts
1. Create a short video (60–90 seconds) where you:
- Introduce yourself (name, age, country)
- Share your experience in media, journalism, or creative projects
- Explain why you want to participate in the competition
Important: If your video is not in English, add English subtitles so the jury and participants from other countries can understand you.
2. Share your video on social media
Post your video on any of these platforms:
TikTok, Telegram, YouTube, Х/Twitter, ВК, Weibo, WeChat, BilliBilli, Douyin, Одноклассники, Rutube
and make sure to include the hashtag: #NewDayEducation25
3. Prepare your portfolio
Gather examples of your best work – videos, articles, podcasts, photos, blogs – anything that showcases your talent and interest in media.
4. Complete the registration form on the competition website

Who can participate in the competition?
Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students, young journalists, content creators, and political scientists aged 18 to 35 from any country.

Can I participate if I’m not a media student (Journalism, Advertising and PR, etc.)?
Yes! You can take part in the competition even without a media-related degree. The main requirement is that your work fits the competition’s theme and meets the submission guidelines.

What do I need to do to participate in the preliminary stage?
To join the preliminary stage, you need to create a video introduction where you present yourself and share your experience and interests. Post your video on social media with the official competition hashtag #NewDayEducation25.
Include the link to your video in the registration form along with your project portfolio.

- Resolution: HD (minimum 720p), Full HD (1080p) preferred
- File formats: MP4, MOV, AVI
- Content: Introduce yourself (name, age, country, city), briefly describe your media experience (education, projects, achievements), and explain why you want to participate

How are applications evaluated in the preliminary stage?
Video introductions are evaluated by the competition committee based on the following criteria:
- Technical quality: clarity of image, sound, and editing
- Content: presentation of yourself, brief description of media experience, motivation for participating
- Creativity: originality of presentation, use of visual effects
- Reach: number of reactions (likes, comments, shares, etc.) on the published post
Portfolio evaluation criteria:
- Variety and quality of content: accuracy, informativeness, relevance
- Relevance to the theme: presence of works related to education and/or Russia
Reach: number of views, likes, and comments on media platforms

What do participants receive after passing the preliminary stage?
Participants who pass the preliminary stage will advance to the main stage and gain access to the online continuing education program “Modern Communications and Intercultural Dialogue: Russian Context.”

What formats of submissions are accepted for the main stage of the competition?
Texts, photos, videos, podcasts, and multimedia content published on social media with the official competition hashtag #NewDayEducation25. You can submit one or multiple formats.

In what language can I submit my work?
Submissions can be in Russian, English, or your country’s official language (in this case, English subtitles are required).

How are the works evaluated during the Online School, and what criteria does the jury use to select the finalists?
An international jury – including journalists, editors, professors, and media experts – evaluates participants’ work based on the following criteria:
- Relevance and informativeness: accuracy, facts, statistics, etc.
- Creativity: originality of presentation
- Technical quality: editing, sound, visual effects
Reach: total number of views, likes, comments, shares and other interactions on the published post

Who covers travel and accommodation for the finalists?
The organizers will cover flight and accommodation expenses for participants who advance to the final stage.

How will I know if my application has been accepted?
After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email. If you don’t receive it, please contact the organizing committee at newdayeducation2025@gmail.com.
